This weekend was pretty boring, nothing eventful happened. I changed the oxygen sensor in my car that went on me, changed the oil in Jamie’s car, picked up my 50″ plasma TV that I had repaired, cooked dinner, went to a soccer game, went shopping for a dress with Jamie (highlight of the weekend) and slept in late on Sunday.
Not much else to post about, I didn’t get a chance to paint more this weekend with all the running around I did. Tried to spend most of the time out of the house since it was so nice out.
EHWSL got the new jersey’s in with the FX Technologies sponsorship on them :)

And here is the shot of the mean chicken I whipped up Saturday. Mmmm. It was tasty. Crappy picture but thats garlic cloves, rosemary and some squash chopped up all over the chicken along with a bunch of other seasoning. I really like to cook. Jamie had salmon. I don’t like fish so I didn’t take a picture of it.

Yesterday I had to go hiking as part of my Wellness and Fitness class. Not a bad way to spend your class time. It was a beautiful evening and it wasn’t too hot since we started at 6:30pm. I brought Jamie along to keep me company. I want to kick myself for forgetting the camera, but at least I Google mapped the area to show you. I think I may go back again, there was a spot for a picnic at the end of the 2-mile trail with a place for a fire and everything. Also the river is right there so maybe some fishing and skipping rocks.
The trail is between the Norrie Point Environmental Site and Mills Mansion. We took the path that literally follows the river’s edge, which was cool because the water was calm and the setting sun glistened upon the water (AWW so pretty). I enjoy going out for walks, and the trail wasn’t a boring asphalt path through the woods, we took the one that went through the roots and over fallen trees straight through the woods. Most of the class just zipped through it like we were being timed, but Jamie and I stayed back from the crowd and enjoyed the hike. People brought their dogs with them, it was pretty funny seeing these little dogs jump over tree roots and going under fallen limbs.
The blue line is the trail we took. There is an easier paved one through the woods, but where is the fun in that.

This weekend was incredibly eventful at the house. I actually woke up earlier than I do for work both days and did a lot around the house. We cleaned out one side of the attic and painted it with the new colors. We were able to use all the colors on certain areas that we planned out so we got to see what each one looks like. They are pretty nice, I think they will do well being light colors in a small area. The fresh paint just makes everything look so much nicer and cleaner. I mounted the pole for the coat rack and finally patched the whole in the drywall, still need to plaster it though. I primed the new railing we made on the left and boy did that new wood soak up the paint. We went with an interior flat enamel paint that is very low-lustre so it will help reduce glare and shine to hide some of the imperfections in the ceilings. The walls are antique white (light tan/beige color), the trim is going to be that blue color (forget the name) and the railing is brown (also forget the name). I know in the photo the brown looks like the walls but its a nice light brown, kinda looks like the color of hot chocolate or a melted milk chocolate bar. Let us know what you think about the colors.

Saturday was the start of the EHWSL spring season. The teams played a round-robin just to get everyone used to playing together again. Amazingly Jamie’s Orange Team won both games. Things are changing this season, a lot of players have not returned due to work/money conflicts of being pregnant. Teams are a bit more even on the skill level, should make for a very interesting season, as long as everyone shows up. It was a beautiful day out when it was supposed to rain. My face was sun burnt at 9am and it was about 70 degrees, if not more. Below are pictures I took to keep me occupied on the sideline.

Here are some of the surroundings. I love taking landscape photos. It was such a beautiful day out. The EHWSL plays on Tymor Park over in the Union Vale, just outside of Lagrange. It is a very well kept park with 3 baseball fields and a soccer field.

I know I promised some pictures of the game at the Net, but they all came out crappy because the camera kept on focusing on the actual net rather then what was beyond it. Also there was crappy lighting for photos and apparently this camera isn’t very good for fast action. I will take more from inside the actual playing area next week at the last game of the season. They girls did good, another tie. This puts them tied for 3rd. A big step up from last.

Over the past two days I have been tweaking the look of the blog. I have modified the template to show 4 posts on the main page, rather than the default 1 post and small boxes to display the older posts. I also removed the older post boxes, to me they were just ugly. I also encapsulated the posts in borders, I think it looks better than just post after post with nothing but a title header to separate them. I found a cool plugin to place related posts in each posts, hopefully driving some more page views and reading.
These are the obvious things that anyone that has been checking the site regularly (the whole 2 of you) would notice. The little things were playing around with the placement of advertisements to make sure they all looked the same on each page and weren’t put into boxes. I also moved around the widgets on the sidebar to allow me to show more recent comments and recent posts, especially since I removed the older post boxes from the blog.
Hope everyone likes it!

This week has been a little hectic with multiple tests and reports due, as well as new projects getting wrapped up at work. I haven’t had much time to spend on my websites or even posting here, so I figured I would sent out this little blurb.
Tonight there is another indoor soccer game at the Net. If I can remember for once I will bring my camera and take pictures. Jamie’s team is actually doing very well this season, so far their record is 1-2-1 and they aren’t in last!! They lost to some tough teams, but even then the scores were very close.
Saturday kicks off the outdoor East Hudson league. To me these are a lot more fun and exciting, probably due to the longer game time and normal size playing field, compared to the fast pace, small indoor turf. It will be good to see some faces that I haven’t seen since last fall. They are opening the league with a round-robin tournament, so all teams will be there. Once again, I hope to have my camera.
I’ll update everyone this weekend with some photos and news.

Over the past few days I have edited the site and added the last few touches. It is 99.9% complete at this time. I am sure I will be anal this weekend and tweak a few little things that no one else would notice.
Check it out!!! Now I have a complete working site that I can use as the template for the rest. Thanks to the helpful hits of Paul at the Homeowner’s blog.

This sunday was the EHWSL’s 2nd Annual Shamrock Tournament. For those of you who don’t know, Jamie is on the board and plays soccer for them. This was the second Tournament that they held indoor at the Gold’s Gym on Titusville Rd in Poughkeepsie, aka The Net. Jamie started playing for EHWSL right after the first tournament, so for us this Sunday was something new. Jamie played all day from 1:00 to 9:00, I don’t know how she and the other girls did it, I would have been dead after 3 hours. Since I am such a nice guy (aka sucker), I was in charge of the scoreboard on one of the three fields throughout the tournament. I would have been bored just sitting there, plus I love helping out this organization, so that’s why I did it. So if you are reading this Amanda (head cheese of the EHWSL), stop saying sorry, I had fun!
Jamie’s team didn’t do so swell in the women’s open competitive division, I believe they were 1-4 with the 1 win being because the other team didn’t show up! It was great time though, all the players from the outdoor league came to play for this tournament, so it was good seeing people that we haven’t seen since December. Jamie also played in a co-ed division after her open division was complete. Her co-ed team technically tied for first in points being 4-1, but since the only team they lost to was the team that tied them in points, Jamie’s team came in second.
Throughout the winter Jamie plays against/with most of the EHWSL players at The Net to keep them occupied until the spring when the outdoor EHWSL season starts. Jamie is captain of the Black Diamonds. You can view her regular teams indoor stats here. You can find out more information about the EHWSL by clicking the banner on the right. Myself and my company sponsor the EHWSL because it is a great organization and needs all the help it can get to provide women in the area with the only soccer league available in the area. The closet ones are Long Island, but there may be one in Westchester that recently formed.
I stupidly didn’t take my camera, so no photos yet. I am hoping that I will eventually get some from people that are there and revisit this post to display them.
